Professional Experience

Franklin Briceño Salazar received his Law and Political Science degree (“Magna Cum Laude”) from the University of Panama in 1990; as a Scholar under the prestigious Fullbright Program, he also obtained a Master’s Degree in Compared Commercial Law from The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in the United States of America.  Furthermore, he has Post-graduate studies in Taxation and a Master Degree in Tax Planning from UNESCPA 2011.

He has practiced as an Associate Attorney in several renowned law firms in Panama City and in 1999 he became a Senior Partner of the Law Firm Sucre, Briceño & Co.

His professional experience has been mainly concentrated on the fields of Banking and Corporate Law, with a successful foray into the Labor Law and Litigation fields as well.

Franklin Briceño is an active member of several professional organizations, unions and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).  He stands out as a member of the Inter American Bar Association and the Panamanian Association of Corporate Executives (APEDE by its Spanish acronym) where he has been President of the Ethics, Civics and Social Responsibility Commission; he is also a member of the National Bar Council, the Association of Fulbright Scholars and Amnesty International, among others.

The following are among his most relevant monographs:  “Validation of Powers in the Opening of Bank Accounts and Granting of Credit,” “Considerations with Regards to Article 3 of the United Nations Convention on Promissory Notes and Negotiable Documents and the Panamanian Legislation,” “Some Forms of Obligation Termination” and his thesis “On the Object and Risk in Maritime Insurance.”

In the area of public service, Franklin Briceño has acted as a member of the Conciliation and Decision Boards of the Secretary of Labor as a representative of the employer sector and has also served as an Outside Legal Advisor for the Agricultural Insurance Institute.

Franklin Briceño Salazar is a Law Professor in the Commercial Law Master’s Program at the Inter-American University.  He has been a speaker in multiple seminars and meetings on subjects related to areas of his professional practice and pertaining to ethics and corporate transparency.
